Devotion: Stress and Worried?
God knows the final outcome of the game.
The other day I was watching a football game. My team was down a few points and they were going for a field goal but missed. I was worried and stressed and hung my head “knowing” that my team was going to lose the game.
But I thought to myself, what if I were watching a recording of the game and KNEW that my team was going to win with a hail-mary pass in the last two seconds of the game? At that moment when they missed the field goal would I still be as upset as I had been?
No! By knowing what happened at the end of the game it wouldn’t have bothered me much at all. As Christians, we can easily feel defeated by the missed field goals or lost yardage in our own lives, but we must remember that Jesus prepared us for these moments in John 16:33 “Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.”
What is it in your life that has you stressed and worried? Take a moment to remember that in the end they won’t matter because Jesus will return and bring His children to heaven to live with Him. In Revelation 21:1-2 John says “Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the old heaven and the old earth had disappeared. And the sea was also gone. And I saw the holy city, the New Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven like a bride beautifully dressed for her husband.”
If you are a believer in Christ, take comfort in these words from the Lord. However, if are not in a right relationship with Him let me throw a hail-mary pass to you. Pray something like this: “Dear Jesus, I confess that I am a sinner and do not act the way You want me to. Thank you for dying on the cross for me and forgiving me of all of my wrong doing. Please come into my heart and be my Lord and Savior. Amen”. If you prayed this or would like more information about becoming a Christian, please go back and contact us through the website or feel free to call us at the church..
