Devotion: Heaven
A Glimpse of Heaven
While walking through the stadium after a great overtime win at a professional football game, I had a glimpse of what Heaven may be like. Thrilled at the turnout of the game, the home team’s fans continued to cheer long after the game was over. Surrounded by an endless motion of a blue and orange sea, deafening noise, ear to ear smiles, and countless hi-5s we started to leave the stadium and to my surprise the noise began to swell. We walked down corridors big enough to drive cars through. With every step the crowd had an uprising of delight. Exhilaration due to one cause, I have never experienced any quite like this before. Amazed with each step, energy soared through the mob.
Then the thought hit me. Will Heaven be like this as we walk on streets of gold to see the Father? Aware the pain of this world has ended. Experience pure joy knowing we will finally lay our eyes on the King of Kings. I imagined the meaning behind our hi-5s in Heaven. How loud would the crowd be? How big will the smiles get on our faces? Rejoicing in a common thing with strangers we have never met. Will our pace quicken the closer we get to the throne? Jubilation that we have made it, we are now whole. Let the euphoria begin.
1 Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. 2 I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, "Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. 4He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away." Revelation 21:1-4
I want the best life I can have here on this earth. Celebrating victories, helping others, even great losses conscious of who I am on this earth so I am prepared for Heaven. I want to show the fruit of my labor here on this earth so that I can enjoy bliss at the hand of my Savior.

I am a native to Salt Lake City and am glad to still call it home. My husband and I are raising a blended family with three daughters and a son. As a recent graduate of She Speaks with Proverbs 31 Ministries, I am excited to share about the Lord through my stories. I came to know Jesus when I was five and have walked on my journey with Him ever since. |
